I love to decorate our home for the holidays but I try to keep it on a budget. As most of you know I love coupons and apps like Ebates, Ibotta, and etc. So I am always keeping up with sales and trying to match items for the best deals. I fail a lot of times just because I do not have the patiences or I run out of minutes in the day or heck my ADD kicks in and I totally forget or get distracted ... but I try, isn't that what counts! The thing with saving money is that you have to plan ahead and sometimes that is hard to do for me. But you also may have to delay your decorating depending on what you need to buy. So while some are decorating at or around Thanksgiving, I may not decorate until after the 7th, due to the sales - they get better as you get closer to Christmas.
So this year we decided to do a new color for our home and for the first time in a long time we decided to put some decor outside for Christmas. Since we haven't been in the states much this time of the year, we just never stressed over it. But this year we have our grand babies that are getting older and paying more attention so we just had to go all out.
We went to Michaels with my coupons, apps and matched it with their sales. They were having a 50% off and a 70% off, so for under $40.00 we got 9 wreathes, 9 bows and 9 little holly bushel thingies. We then went to Target when they were having their spend $100 save $50 deal and we got our new color scheme and several other items. After that we were done! Now the hard part is to put it all up, hahaha!
To make my wreathes:
The plain basic cheap green wreathes - fluff them out, add a red bow to the top, put a little pop of color or decor (we used the holly bushels), use some wire string to tie it all together more securely and there you go! You can add lights or anything else you would like but it is so simple to do!
